White Hall Planting & R Series Sprayers

by Josh Thornton, White Hall, IL

White Hall will be out of the fields for awhile.  Rainfall for the past week probably averages 2.5 inches in the area.  Temperatures dropped down in the 30’s last night.  The crops look good that are in.  The corn is starting to show some yellow tint with the moisture and cool temperatures.  The soybeans are probably around 85% planted.  Many of them saw emergence in 3-4 days.

We have had some issues with the new boom strainers on the new R series sprayers.  The banjo strainer has been cracking out close to the seam.  We have had 2 different machines do this.  They are running the typical 40 psi spray off pressure, but I suppose it is caused by the higher volume solution pump.
