Sloan Support Call Center Now Open With Extended Hours

The Sloan Support Call Center is Open for Plant '18

by Weston Adcock, Assumption, IL

Starting today, April 20th, Sloan Implement will open its call center for the 2018 spring planting season. If you do business with Sloan Implement, AMS call support is free during business hours.  Business hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.  We have 3 experienced Product Support Specialists staffing the call center each day.  This is the best outlet for the fastest response to your AMS/Precision Farming questions.  Last spring we took 3,500 calls, with over 200 per day and still averaged a wait time of fewer than 30 seconds. If by chance all 3 lines are busy and you do not want to wait on hold, you can leave a call back number that saves your place in line and generates an automatic return call. You can also connect with the call center by sending an email or requesting a call back through our Sloan Implement Smartphone App.  You can download the Sloan App for iPhone and Android by clicking here.

If you need assistance after business hours, Sloans will continue to offer after-hours support to keep your operation going into the night and on weekends. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the week, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays we will be providing voicemail support. If you leave a detailed message of your issue with your name and number, you will get a timely response from a member of our AMS team.  For this added service we will charge $50 for the call.  The phone numbers remain the same and we now have a call center solely for our Ag Retail customers.

New from Deere: Mobile Data Transfer via USB

Mobile Data Transfer

by Jared Wheeler, Assumption, IL

John Deere recently introduced a new product, Mobile Data Transfer, which is a USB to WiFi device that plugs into the display and transfers data using your smartphone via the Mobile Data Transfer app.  This new device makes  it easy to wirelessly transfer data from older John Deere equipment and non-John Deere displays to the Operations Center with Mobile Data Transfer.

Mobile Data Transfer enables customers to wirelessly transfer agronomic data to and from non-John Deere displays and from John Deere’s GreenStar™ 3 2630 display (in older John Deere equipment that is not JDLink™ compatible) to the Operations Center. It enables producers to consolidate data from multiple branded displays into one centralized location for their use or to be shared with trusted advisors.

There are multiple ways to get data into the Operations Center where it can be put to use. Mobile Data Transfer works with a variety of in-cab displays and mobile devices to facilitate the transfer of information. If you are running older John Deere equipment and have not yet moved to a JDLink Connect enabled machine, Mobile Data Transfer is a great way to get started.

This video shows how Mobile Data Transfer works and why we think it will work well for our customers.

You can download the Mobile Data Transfer App by visiting the “Apps we recommend” section of the Sloan Implement App.  Download the app by clicking here.

My John Deere Operations Center

by Jared Wheeler, Assumption, IL

Apex version 3.7 is now available to download.  It includes a new backup/restore option that allows you to send all of your historical data to the new MyJohnDeere.com Operations Center.  The MyJohnDeere.com Operations Center is continually changing and adding new features.  Updates are made to the website every two weeks to fix issues and introduce new features quicker than ever before.  It’s not like Apex where you have to manually update the software on your computer.  Updates are made automatically.  Some recently updated features include the ability to post calibrate, view application maps and reports, view the weather radar, and also compare the current year’s yield map to your historical average.  Some of the features coming in the near future include creating setup data that can be sent wirelessly to the machine and spatial sorting of data.  Spatial sorting will sort the data that comes in based on the boundaries that you have on MyJohnDeere.com.  This will really help keep your data organized.  Oftentimes we see inconsistencies in the naming of fields between operators and this should help solve this issue.  When the data comes in, it will automatically be assigned to the boundary that it is within.  You can see an overview of Operation Center in this video.

If you are interested in seeing a demo of MyJohnDeere.com or would like help transferring your data from Apex to MyJohnDeere.com please give us a call.   We can also reconcile your harvest data and print your yield maps.  Also, we can map your field boundaries and guidance line  using an RTK signal for $1/acre.  We can make sure that you already have your boundaries loaded when the spatial sorting feature goes live.  You can learn more about these services on our website.

New Sloan Support Call Center Features

by Jared Wheeler, Assumption, IL

The Sloan Support Call Center now has the ability to accept emails through our call center software.  Customers are now able to email questions and we can reply back to them or call them back if need be.  You can email support@sloans.com or support@sloansupport.com and they will both go the same place.  Please remember to include your name and phone number in the email so we know how to respond.  Also, please be sure to include the topic of your question in the subject line of the email.  The easiest way to access this feature is by using the Sloan Implement app and click the new Call Center button and email us directly from the app using your smartphone. Customers also have the option on that screen in the app to request a call from a specialist.
