Attention All John Deere Starfire ITC Owners!

We received word from John Deere that effective Jan 1, 2021, Starfire ITC GPS Receivers will no longer be able to receive the SF1 or SF2 corrections required for machines to Autotrac.  ITC receivers will still be able to show coverage, document, and be used for sectional control (in some cases) using the WAAS signal. This was not a decision made by John Deere or INMARSAT (the company that provides the bandwidth for our SF1 and SF2 correction signals). This change is happening because of a government satellite update where new satellites broadcasting the L5 signal are replacing the older signals. The hardware inside an ITC receiver will not allow it to receive the newer data. Starfire 3000s and 6000s are not affected by this change.

If you still have an SF2 or RTK activation on an ITC receiver, John Deere has extended the transfer deadline again for you to transfer these activations to an SF3000 or SF6000 receiver.  This deadline is quickly coming up on August 1st, 2018. The SolutionsPlus app is used to support, configure, and enable John Deere precision technology products for agriculture, construction, and forestry industries.  The SolutionsPlus app can be used for updating software, transferring subscriptions, connecting MTG 4G LTE to a wireless network or configuring MTG 4G LTE to receive wireless connections.

Most impressively, the SolutionsPlus app can help you setup your GreenStar equipment before you head to the field this season.  It includes things such as:

  • How to setup your layout manager on the screen
  • Calibrate your TCM
  • Enter machine dimensions
  • Setup AutoTrac
  • Setup Documentation

You can also dive deeper into things like:

Calibrating the TCM on a 2600/2630 Display

As you move your 2600 or 2630 Display into your combine this fall, you will need to calibrate your TCM to make sure you have the most accurate GPS signal and A/B Lines.  This Youtube video will help explain how to properly calibrate your TCM to assure your autotrac works properly in your Tractor, Combine, Sprayer, or any other self propelled vehicle.  Have a safe fall!

New MyAnalyzer App from John Deere

The MyAnalyzer app utilizes data from the Operations Center to provide a view of documented map layers and summaries of field operations. This is traditionally the same data viewed within the Field Analyzer and Field Summary tab in Operations Center. Utilizing smartphone location features, MyAnalyzer enhances the ability to perform in-field analysis of documented results.

End users will be able to:

  • Use the current location feature (blue dot) while viewing a map to ground truth recorded data
  • View documented map layers and operation details for a field
  • Get driving directions to the field
  • Export a PDF of a map layer and print or share via email and text
  • Shake the phone while viewing a map layer to easily cycle through map layers for an operation
  • Get a farm summary by crop for variety performance information
  • Seamlessly transition between MyAnalyzer and MyOperations apps with a single log in
  • Get support from partners, including dealers, based on permissions granted in John Deere Operations Center

Value:

  • Utilize documented map layers to ground truth recorded data and for insights into the effectiveness of farming practices
  • Pull up documented map layers on the spot or easily send them via text or email to another person to aid in conversations with advisers and landlords
  • Access summary information of product performance as it is being harvested to aid in seed selection decisions for next year.

New MyOperations App from John Deere

The new MyOperations app from John Deere provides insights from Operations Center and JDLink Connect data with daily summaries, field productivity, and quality details.  It allows farmers to evaluate their daily productivity — all on the go from their smartphones.

End users will be able to monitor their field work that occurred today and yesterday, including:

  • Daily summaries of work performed by date and by operation with total acres per operation and per field
  • Operation details at end of field such as rate, product, variety, yield, and moisture
  • Progress and path traveled with Location History
  • Field boundary locations on the map and driving directions
  • Analysis of equipment efficiency:
    • Equipment location on the map and driving directions
    • Fuel and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank levels of equipment to plan refueling logistics and timing
    • Equipment hours and utilization details such as time utilization, ground speed, engine load, wheel slip, fuel rate, and more
    • Remote Display Access (RDA) into the in-cab display
    • JDLink Machine alerts and notifications indicating machine health, operation, or misuse issues
  • Seamlessly transition to the MyAnalyzer app for a historical view of operations with a single login

Getting to Know the AMS Department

This post features Austin Shellhause and Joe Brunker.  Austin works in the Cuba City, Wisconsin location.  He is a graduate of Eastland High School class of  2010.  He later went on to graduate with an Ag Business and Farm Management degree from UW-Platteville in 2014.  Austin then started with Sloan’s shortly after in Product Support.  He enjoys spending time with his friends and family and anything outdoors.

2016 Data Management Service Sign Up

Tired of struggling with Apex or just want to start mapping and keeping records of your data?  Contact us to get set up with our Data Management Service.  We will provide a new data card or flash drive each year so that you can keep your old data in a safe place for a backup.  We will update the software on all your displays and receivers and also get your displays loaded with all your setup data including farms, fields, clients, and varieties.  We can help organize your farm and field names to make sure they are consistent across all displays and all operations to avoid confusion amongst operators.  After planting, we will clean up and print your variety maps and reports and get you set up for harvest with variety locator.  We will then clean up, post calibrate, and print your harvest maps and reports after you are finished with the year’s harvest.  Now that we have the ability to upload historical data to MyJohnDeere.com, we would be happy to upload this data for you if you would like.  All of this is included for just $500 a year.
